Welcome to PEP!
Our Rotary club is the very first Rotary
club in District 6900 to sponsor a PEP delegation. We had our
very first Private Medical Delegation of PEP physicians from May
22nd to June th 2003. Then we had a second Casual Dining PEP Delegation
from April 14th to May 8th 2005. Now we are planning to host our
third Human Resource Delegation from March 30th to April 21st
2007. This has proved to be the most exciting International program
that our club has ever beeninvolved in. We had 300 people from
the Columbus community involved in this exciting program in addition
to our own club members when we hosted our first delegation. Then
during our second delegation we encouraged the Columbus Rotary
Club and the East Columbus Rotary Club to host their own delegations
in the same time frame that we hosted our delegation. As a result
in 2005 here were over 1,000 additional people from Columbus who
were involved in this joint effort either as home hosts, business
hosts, business presenters or who interacted with the Russian
delegates at some scheduled social or civic event during their
visit to the United States.
Productivity Enhancement
Program (PEP) - This exciting internamtional program has brought
over 6,00 Russian entrpreneurs to the United States in an intensive
training program in 86 different industry specific disciplines
as a part of over 560 separate delegations in the past ten years.
PEP is sponsored in the United States
by the Center
of Citizen Initiatives CCI. Their web site gives you a helpful
description of the details of this people to people program which
is designed to build friendships between Russia and the United
States. The main purpose of PEP is to help Russia move from 75
years of Communist rule to a market based economy.
